Access to information and documents in AAT cases

Requests for information or copies of documents relating to some AAT cases can be dealt with without making a formal request under the FOI Act.

For example, if you have an active case in the Migration & Refugee Division, you or your assistant might be able to access certain written material in your case under section 362A of the Migration Act 1958.

Freedom of information

If you want to, you can make a formal request for access to documents or to amend your personal records under the FOI Act.

Follow this link if you want to make an FOI request in relation to a case in the Migration & Refugee Division.

Information Publication Scheme

As required by the FOI Act, we have an Information Publication Scheme entry that provides information on our structure, functions, statutory appointments, annual reports, consultation arrangements, information we routinely release following FOI requests and information we routinely provide to Parliament.

The AAT is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. Detailed information about how we handle personal information is contained in our Privacy Policy.
