Following his appointments earlier in June, Justice Kyrou was welcomed at the sitting by The Honourable Mark Dreyfus KC MP, the Attorney-General, The Honourable Debra Mortimer, Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Australia, and the presidents of the Australian Bar Association, Victorian Bar Association, and the Law Council of Australia.
The ceremony concluded with remarks from Justice Kyrou. In his speech, the AAT President said he welcomed the opportunity to serve the Australian community and to help shape the new system of merits review.
