The AAT reviews a decision “on the merits”. This means we take a fresh look at the facts, law and policy relating to the decision and arrive at our own decision. We decide if the decision should stay the same or be changed. We are independent of the person or organisation that made the decision.

Reviews are dealt with in one of the AAT’s eight Divisions. The review process varies depending on the type of decision you want reviewed.

This page has information about the most common types of decisions we review and provides links to more information about the review process.
