This page gives an overview of the steps in the review process for most cases and includes a flowchart.
This section of the website has information about the review process for decisions that can be reviewed in one of the following AAT divisions:
- General Division
- Freedom of Information Division
- National Disability Insurance Scheme Division
- Security Division
- Taxation & Commercial Division
- Veterans’ Appeals Division.
In most cases, a conference is the first step in a review. It is a type of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) process. You can find information about conferences here.
The AAT also uses other types of ADR processes to help parties reach an agreement about how their case should be resolved. This page has information about all of the ADR processes we use.
If the parties are unable to reach an agreement about resolving their case, we will hold a hearing. You can find information about hearings here.
This page has information that will help you understand the AAT’s decision in your case and what you can do if you disagree with it.
