Applying to the AATInformation for unrepresented applicantsThe Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) has an Outreach Program to provide information about the AAT's practices and processes to people who are unrepresented, that is to people who are presenting their own argument to the Tribunal. Outreach usually occurs about the same time the individual is provided with copies of the department's documents which are relevant to the decision which was made. Those documents are called "T documents" and are sent by the Department about five weeks after the application is lodged. Outreach is conducted over the phone. Where necessary, an AAT officer will arrange for an interpreter to be available to assist before making contact with the unrepresented party. To find out more about the Outreach Program contact a Client Service Officer in your local Tribunal office for more information.
